Jan 31 Years & Years performs new track “DNA” live on Radio 1’s Sound of 2018

We have been patiently waiting for new Years & Years music and it looks like the trio is almost ready for their big comeback. The dance-pop outfit – consisting of Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Türkmen – performed a new, stripped down ballad titled “DNA” during Radio 1’s Sound of 2018 show on January 30. According to Alexander, new music is “weeks, not months away,” so stay tuned for new tunes from the group very soon. “I’m gonna show you that history can change / the patterns of my youth / the cut of my DNA” sings frontman Olly...more

Couldn’t find your way to Exeter for Big Weekend over the weekend for two days of free, glorious music hosted by BBC Radio 1? Or just couldn’t get tickets in the mad rush? Don’t worry; us too. But at least we can all thank god for all of the videos that Radio 1 have shared on their YouTube channel. Mar 04 Watch: Years & Years – Desire

Years & Years released their steamy new music video for their latest single “Desire” yesterday. The song is a collaboration with singer Tove Lo, known for her songs “Talking Body” and “Stay High”, and she also features in the music video. The video is as highly sexualised as the song itself is and was directed by Fred Rowson, who also filmed Years & Years past music videos for “Shine” and “Foundation”. I won’t spoil the video — and to be truthful, I can’t say I entirely know what happens in it — but one thing that can be said for...more

Dec 11 Year In Review: 15 Best Albums of 2015

2015 has been one of the most exciting years in music in recent years. Every month saw the release of at least one fantastic album, many of which went unnoticed. Thinking about it, it’s crazy that in one year alone, Justin Bieber, One Direction, Lana Del Rey, The Weeknd, Adele, all released albums. As the end of the year is near, Trendio’s editors narrowed the albums that made quite the impression, one certain to last way beyond 2015. Check out our picks for ’15 Best Albums of 2015′ below and be sure to drop a line, agreeing / disagreeing with...more

Dec 10 Year In Review: 25 Best Songs of 2015

Of all the lists we have had to compile, this, by far, was the toughest. Why? Narrowing the best tracks that were released in 2015 is like finding a needle in a haystack, the haystack being all of the great songs that were released this year. The saying “‘Tis the season” was applicable to the better part of this year as every single day, there was a brand new gift – in the form of music – to be unraveled. To make things less difficult (well, sorta), each Trendio editor was asked to pick five of their favorite songs born...more

You’re missing out on some of the good things this world has to offer if you’re yet to get into the British singing trio that is Years & Years. Earlier this year, Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Turkmen, known collectively as “Years & Years” announced their highly-awaited debut album, “Communion.” Coming preceded by their smash hit “King,” “Communion” is set to land on July 10, with it being available to pre-order right now! Anyhow, the trio have just released a brand new single from the album, a song titled “Shine.” “Shine premiered moments ago on BBC’s Radio 1, following...more

Apr 17 Featured: Years & Years

Lately, I have grown to know and love Years & Years. As they have been making music for a little while (since 2010), the internet played an instrumental role in the success of the British electronica trio. Years & Years, which used to be used to be a five-piece, is currently made up of frontman and keyboardist Olly Alexander, bassist Mikey Goldsworthy and synth player Emre Turkmen. Earlier this year, shortly after they won the prestigious BBC Sound of 2015, this group’s first major single, “King,” taken from their debut EP, “Y&Y,” topped the Singles Chart in the U.K. Years...more
