Feb 14 Watch: Hozier – “Cherry Wine”

Every Hozier music video has made us emotional. From “Take Me to Church” to “Work Song”, his music videos are just as visceral and heart-rending as his music. His newest music video, “Cherry Wine”, is no exception. Get the tissues ready. Directed by Dearbhla Walsh, the music video focuses on a seemingly in love couple, portrayed by Irish actors Saoirse Ronan and Moe Dunford. However, upon closer inspection and the removal of her makeup, the viewer discovers a more harrowing side to this relationship: it is an abusive one. The song “Cherry Wine” itself is told from the eyes of...more

Feb 12 Listen: Hozier – “Cherry Wine”

Hozier returns with a new single, “Cherry Wine”, off of his first album, but this one is special: for every purchase of the song, the proceeds of each download go to domestic violence charity organisations within the country it is purchased in. The idea of making “Cherry Wine” a charity single makes sense, since the song highlights an abusive relationship from the perspective of the victim. It spins through the endless circles of a victim’s thought process: from thinking they deserve to be treated this way to justifying their abuser to still loving them despite their horrific emotional and physical...more

Feb 04 Review: Hozier at Brixton

A medley of music classics is piped in through the speakers of Brixton Academy. Fans halt their conversations to sing along to the choruses of The Band’s “The Weight” and Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart.” An ornate rug is laid in front of the centre microphone – almost as if trying to create a comfier atmosphere, like this is a small café in Dublin rather than the first of three of Irish singer/songwriter Hozier’s sold-out shows in London. In the most charming of ways, the show does not begin until one tech member places a large traveler mug in...more

Mar 23 Video: Hozier – “Work Song”

Mondays are better when they come with brand new music videos, and Hozier seems to agree! It’s only been two weeks since he premiered his last music video for his song “Someone New” featuring Game of Thrones actress, Natalie Dormer. This morning the Irish singer released yet another music video for his song “Work Song.” The simple yet appealing music video was directed by Isaac Ravishankara and in it, Hozier sings to a mesmerized crowd of ballroom dancers, while playing his guitar. Watch the music video below!

Mar 02 Video: Hozier – “Something New”

Music videos are always a good way to start the day and Hozier seems to agree. This morning the “Take Me To Church” singer released the video for his single “Something New.” And it’s a great video. It matches the song perfectly. It stars Game of Throne’s actress Natalie Dormer (she plays Margaery Tyrell in the series) who spends majority of the music video kissing a whole lot of people. Which is what you’d expect to happen with a chorus like, “I fall in love just a little, oh a little bit every day with someone new.” The music video sends...more

Feb 05 Chartin’ – Taylor Swift reigns supreme once again!

Back to regularly scheduled programming, it seems. Taylor Swift has somehow made her way back to No. 1 on the chart, proving once again that is American Horror Story’s definition of “Supreme.” Hits Daily Double reports Taylor’s album, 1989, racked up 70,674 in sales the week of February 14, 2015. Considering Taylor Swift’s album is not available to stream on Spotify, its a miracle her album sales increase drastically with streaming count included. The number is 97,390 (sales + streaming), as reported by HDD. Taylor being No. 1 means Fall Out Boy’s album, which was number one last week, has...more
