Of all the lists we have had to compile, this, by far, was the toughest. Why? Narrowing the best tracks that were released in 2015 is like finding a needle in a haystack, the haystack being all of the great songs that were released this year. The saying “‘Tis the season” was applicable to the better part of this year as every single day, there was a brand new gift – in the form of music – to be unraveled. To make things less difficult (well, sorta), each Trendio editor was asked to pick five of their favorite songs born...more

As the release date for Justin Bieber′s eagerly-anticipated fourth studio album Purpose approaches, the “Sorry” singer-songwriter has lifted and unleashed two brand tracks from the album. One of the two songs, shared today (Nov. 9) on Beats1, is The Feeling, Biebs’ collaboration with tumblr user turned pop star, Halsey. The other, a song titled Love Yourself, is an impressive ode, many believe is about his past flame, Selena Gomez. Love Yourself hears Bieber take shots at Selena Gomez the lady in question. “My mama don’t like you and she likes everyone,” he shades sings. Moving on to Halsey-guested “The Feeling”...more
“Everyone thinks it’s going to be a cultural revolution” said singer/songwriter Halsey about her newest single “New Americana” earlier this year during an interview with The New York Times. The just-released music video for the track goes along perfectly with those words. In the video, Halsey plays a Katniss Everdeen-esque rebel who refuses to conform and starts a revolution within a tight-knit community in the dystopian city of Badlands, a fictional area created by the songstress herself. The video, which was directed by Jodeb (Jon Bellion, Imagine Dragons, Tinashe), premiered on MTV earlier today. Watch the striking video below! “New Americana” is...more
One more #MadeInAmerica writeup, because why not! American singer/songwriter Halsey was also a performer at this year’s “Made In America,” which took place in Philadelphia this weekend. While The Weeknd headlined the second day (today) of the festivities, Halsey was the second to take the “Rocky Stage,” when the show began. During her set, she performed some from her critically-acclaimed Badlands album, one of which was her current single “New Americana.” Also during her set, her parents hopped on stage to say hi to the fans. In related news, Halsey’s album bows as one of 2015’s third-best opening sales week...more
By this time next week, Halsey, the internet’s new it-girl, would have released her hotly-awaited debut album, Badlands. In anticipation, Halsey dropped by ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ tonight (August 25) to make her late night television debut. As her current single is ‘New Americana,’ the blue-haired songstress blessed the Kimmel (outdoor) crowd with a performance of the track, released back July. Though we do not get to watch all of it, Halsey also performed three songs from her forthcoming album: Hold Me Down, Castle, and fan-favorite, Colors. Watch her ‘New Americana’ performance below!
Another day, another song by Halsey. This time is a track titled “Drive”. The song was accidentally leaked by Spotify Mexico early on July 10th. “All we do is drive. All we do is think about the feelings that we hide. All we do is sit in silence, waiting for a sign” sings Halsey on the guitar-led chorus. The song incorporates car sounds such as doors closing, the sound of a blinker and seat belts clinking. According to a new interview with COMPLEX, “Drive” was produced by Tim Anderson. “I was in a session with Tim Anderson, and he was...more
Alternative pop songstress Ashley Frangipane, best known as Halsey, is truly the gift that keeps on giving. Just a few days after the mysterious “leak” of her track “Coming Down”, fan-favorite “New Americana” was released on iTunes as an instant gratification track for those who pre-ordered the 20 year-old’s debut album Badlands. The song “New Americana” is not particularly new. It was originally released on March 2014, but the singer decided to re-work it for her debut. For those who are not familiar with the song, you are in for a treat. The new version features a much more polished production,...more
