G.R.L. is offered up some brand new music, a much better follow-up to Kiss Myself, their comeback single, released in September. “Are We Good” hears production credits from Australia’s Hook N Sling (Galantis, NERVO) and it marks the girls’ second release since becoming a trio and going independent. We’ve always been huge fans of G.R.L., so much so that we had a whole feature on them but if we’re being honest, maybe it’s time to wrap up the act as all their releases so far have sorta tarnished their good name and the good music we knew and loved them...more

It should come as absolutely no surprise that my #AOTW this week is G.R.L. G.R.L. is a 4 piece girl group, which was formed by the woman behind the platinum selling Pussycat Dolls, Robin Antin. They made their official debut in 2013, releasing their first ever single as a group, titled ‘Vacation.’ ‘Vacation’ was later featured in “The Smurfs 2.” Back in 2013 and for the better part of 2014, the group was actually made up of five incredibly talented girls

Recap on last week: Our buzzworthy tag was the remarkable Jazmine Sullivan, who released a studio album, Reality Show, this past week. Haley’s choice was Leroy Sanchez, an LA-based singer-songwriter, signed to Rebel Rock. Leroy Sanchez appreciated being picked by liking a photo we posted on Instagram. Awesomeness! Sarah’s Choice was different. She choose a Techno/House tag Dosem.
Pretty eventful couple of day for the girls of G.R.L. First, the artwork for their first single since Simone’s passing was released, then, their first interview since the incident was published, then, ‘Lightouse’ premiered on iTumes, Spotify, and Amazon. Now, the GRLs have released an incredible tribute in the form of a music video dedicated to their ex-bandmate, Simone Battle. The music video premiered on VEVO shortly after the single itself was released. It features clips and photos of the incredibly talented Simone Battle.
Just when the career of the girls of G.R.L. was its take off stage, an unforeseen (for their fans) tragedy took place. One of the most outspoken members and the most talented one of the group, Simone Battle, took her life. The remaining four left in the group – Lauren Bennett, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen – and fans were dishearten by this loss and shortly after news broke, the group tweeted saying “Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone’s incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart. We will carry her...more
G.R.L. was on their way to being the next big girl group, much like the Pussycat Dolls, when one of the groups most talented, Simone Battle, took her dear life. They had just returned from Australia, a trip during which they were given their first platinum plaques for their breakout single ‘Ugly Heart.’ In the United States on the other hand, they were charting really high on both the iTunes chart and Top 40 as their single with Pitbull, Wild Wild Love, was a massive success as well. News broke on September 5, 2014 that Simone Battle, who many of you may...more
