Christina Grimmie is back at it. The Youtube star turned ‘The Voice’ alum returns with brand new single, entitled “Shrug.” Set to be officially released on July 2nd, Shrug comes preceded by “Cliché,” Grimmie’s first release since parting ways with Island Records. Much like Cliché, “Shrug” is an uptempo polished power-pop gem purpose-built to get you moving. “People stand around trying to warn you of / Sense every lie on the tip of their tongue / When you’ve had enough, gotta hit him with the shrug like…,” she sings Take a listen below!

Earlier this year, The Voice’s Christina Grimmie released her new techno-influenced single “Cliche”. After her departure from Universal Music Group’s Island Records, Grimmie stated that she was going to experiment and surprise people with a new and unusual style for her — and she was NOT playing! The 21-year old singer posted a snippet of “Stay With Me”, an EDM collaboration with Diamond Eyes, an up-and-coming producer, singer-songwriter from the UK. The song Christina Grimmie released this past week, reminded me so much of why I fell in love with her. Christina Grimmie was one of the very first YouTube artists I watched and kept up with. Whenever she uploaded a new video of her singing, I couldn’t wait to get watching. The thing I love(d) most about her is how she managed to stay the same through the years. If anyone deserves success, it is Christina Grimmie. She went from being a YouTube phenomena to second place on The Voice (US), which scored her a short-lived record deal with Island Records.
