For the sake of everything great and beautiful and lovely, we hope Alessia Cara is on your radar. Sometimes, when there is so much hype surrounding an artist, it is easy to be like “don’t believe the hype.” With Alessia, BELIEVE THE HYPE, BELIEVE EVERY LAST BIT OF IT. While on a promo tour in Australia, Cara stopped by Channel [V] to perform her hit single, “Here” and Drake’s “Hotline Bling.” In the midst of the drama between Drake and Meek Mill, many people missed Drake’s “Hotline Bling” which was released around the same time. Somehow, Cara has managed to...more

Following the announcement of her debut EP “Four Pink Walls,” Alessia stopped by ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ to make her late night TV debut. The Brampton-native performed her viral debut single “Here,” which has since entered Top 200 on iTunes, in addition to being sent to Top 40. Performing meant the world to Cara – “AHHHHH. On May 17, 2015, Taylor Swift pretty much broke the internet after she debuted the highly-anticipated music video for her Kendrick Lamar-assisted single, “Bad Blood.” This week, BBC Radio 1 shared a video of our current ‘Artist Of The Week,’ Alessia Cara, covering Swift’s hit record, “Bad Blood.” Like everything else Cara does, her rendition of the song is pretty darn flawless. Somehow, Cara turned the decent song to something far greater, something worth listening to over and over again. Swift approved the cover, tweeting: “You’re AMAZING, @alessiacara. Love this, @BBCR1 !” Watch Cara‘s rendition of “Bad Blood” below!

In honour of Canada day, which took place July 1st, meet my ‘Artist Of The Week,’ Alessia Cara, a Brampton Ontario-native. The bred of Italian-Canadian parents, Cara spent her high school days recording covers of songs by some of her favorite artists, the late Amy Winehouse being her absolute “fave artist ever.” Like everyone else, we first heard of Def Jam signee Alessia Cara earlier this year, when the 18-year-old unveiled her debut single Here, via The Fader. Released with little to no knowledge of who she was, it quickly became a ‘viral smash,’ as The Fader notes. Here, as...more
I’m in love with the concept of this video. How hilarious. You’ve probably heard Alessia Cara’s massive debut single, “Here.” It premiered on FADER a little while ago and has since become a “viral smash.” “Here” was written a day after Cara attended a party she hated, “along with every other party [she] had ever gone to.” If you’re anti-social like some of the rest of us, you probably can relate — hence, why the song has become such a hit. Here’s what hilarious. The Aaron A-directed music video for “Here” sees Alessia recreating that party she hated very much....more
