Already tired of hearing about One Direction and Justin Bieber? You are not alone.
The two huge pop acts released their long-awaited studio albums today, overshadowing the likes of newcomers Alessia Cara, Hailee Steinfeld and more. Here at Trendio, we made a compilation of the hottest non-1D/Bieber tracks that were also released today.
Our list includes new music by former The Cab frontman Alexander DeLeon, newcomer Brandyn Burnette, internet boy wonder Troye Sivan, actress-turned-popstar Hailee Steinfeld, and the lovely singer/songwriter Alessia Cara.
Bohnes – Guns and Roses
The Cab’s frontman Alexander DeLeon is finally back with a brand new project, Bohnes. The singer/songwriter appropriately waited until Friday the 13th to release his solo debut “Guns And Roses”, filled with allusions to skulls and DeLeon’s signature metaphorical lyrics. If you are in the mood to dance, this track is for you.
Brandyn Burnette – Down
Newcomer Brandyn Burnette has been on a roll lately. One of this newest tracks, “Nothing At All” gathered over 30,000 plays on Soundcloud just a few days after its release. Quite a huge number for someone so new, but you know what they say: good music always gets around. Burnette released his debut EP “Made of Dreams” today and it is packed with moody tracks with honest and well-written lyrics.
Troye Sivan – Youth
“Youth” is yet another pop gem by Mr. Sivan with an instantly addictive chorus and a prominent 80’s drum beat. “My youth. My youth is yours. Trippin’ on skies. Sippin’ waterfalls” sings Sivan in the chorus. In the same vein as the title track off his newest EP Wild, “Youth” features playground-like chants and a catchy, repetitive tune that won’t leave your head for days.
Alessia Cara – Scars To Your Beautiful
Honestly, I had such a hard time choosing just one track from this album. Alessia Cara’s debut album Know-It-All is stacked with relatable lyrics and that same spark that made us fall in love with Cara’s hit single “Here”. Such a solid debut.
Hailee Steinfeld – You’re Such A
Academy Award-nominated actress took the music world by storm with her youthful hit single “Love Myself” earlier this year. Steinfeld dropped her debut EP Haiz today. My favorite track off of the 18-year-old singer’s EP is titled “You’re Such A”. It is age appropriate, fun and has a quirky hook. “Damn, you’re such a di… fficult little devil” sings Steinfeld in the cheerleader chant-based chorus.
