Artist Of The Week Featured: G.R.L. Posted by Haley • January 16, 2015

It should come as absolutely no surprise that my #AOTW this week is G.R.L.

G.R.L. is a 4 piece girl group, which was formed by the woman behind the platinum selling Pussycat Dolls, Robin Antin.

They made their official debut in 2013, releasing their first ever single as a group, titled ‘Vacation.’ ‘Vacation’ was later featured in “The Smurfs 2.”

Back in 2013 and for the better part of 2014, the group was actually made up of five incredibly talented girls, Simone Battle, Lauren Bennett, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen.

Unfortunately, Simone Battle took her life in September 2014. She may have passed but her memory lives on, now and forever.

For the first time in months, the girls sat down for an interview, with The Sun. In the interview, which was released just yesterday, the girls explained what it has been like coping without Simone, who they considered a best friend.

They also spoke about their new single ‘Lighthouse,’ which they dedicated to Simone. ‘Lighthouse’ song and music video were both released on January 15.

No word on where the group goes from here but I’m rooting for them and they promised not to give up, so keep an eye out. They are gonna be one of the biggest girl groups in history. They have the whole package: Sing ✔︎ Dance ✔︎ Fashion Sense ✔︎

G.R.L.’s new single ‘Lighthouse’ is available on iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon ≤ Purchase!

Find out more on them by visiting their official AOTW page here on Trendio!
